“DZEEEEOOOoo! Just as hard as it is to make a theremin sing so it is hard to pull off a novel like this. But Sean Michaels does it. Us Conductors bridges body and soul, science and art, and like theremin music, it’s of this world and magical at the same time.”
—Ismet Prcic, author of Shards

Blue Heron books pic The unpretentious atmosphere of Blue Heron Books with its comfy chairs, wood shelving and creaky floors lends itself to a long slow, browsing session, but under that sleepy atmosphere vibrates a strong pulse. The store has a quaint, old-fashioned look with an up tempo vibe, because there is always something happening. The store is a hub for the community and a bastion of calm chaos where everyone is welcome, even the local dogs that drop by with their owners for a treat from the tin kept under the front counter. 62 Brock St. W., Uxbridge, Ontario. 905-852-4282

As a one-time publicist and a forever fan of books and reading, I can’t speak highly enough about Blue Heron Books and the community it rallies around visiting authors who, truly, are treated like celebrities. It’s no exaggeration to say that as someone who has attended her fair share of readings, Blue Heron’s are among the most magical and engaging. — Julie (BookMadam) Wilson

Fall 2015 Courses – RECLAIMING YOUR LIFE & SELF THROUGH CREATIVE REFLECTION

Most of us can’t remember what it was like to feel pure joy:  not relief that we’ve negotiated our way through another crisis; not satisfaction that we’ve covered off the needs of someone close to us; but actual joy in our own lives, our own authentic delights.

Spouses, parents, friends, children, colleagues, employees, – we’re drowning in the roles we’ve assumed, panicking to be better, best, perfect, and running in place just to slip a little farther behind.

Instructor Sue Reynolds recognizes that most of us have complicated lives and relationships. Through the use of creative and reflective techniques (writing, collage, etc.) participants in this group will learn how to make space for and reclaim their lives, their joy and their essential Selves.
